Middleport Community Garden - Good neighbors, good food, great future -- join today!
We are growing...

...for our members. Membership for the 2010 season is FREE! Just tell us you'd like to be counted as a member.

...for hungry people. Some people work in the gardens because they need food, some because they love gardening, some to learn, others to earn hours in the Time Bank of our Barter Club. Whatever your motivation, we're always glad you're with us! We also make donations to the Middleport Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, and Senior and Group Homes.

...for the environment, using sustainable methods and practices. Six percent of the world's plant species are lost every year just because the least profitable seeds are dropped from commercial production. Every year more native medicinal herbs are lost because their value is unrecognized and they are rooted out as "weeds". We specialize in growing and saving seeds from heirloom open-pollinated and indigenous herbs, fruits, flowers, and vegetables.

...for youth. Young people gain valuable skills while they enjoy:

Fresh air and exercise
Recognition for service
Business experience
Paid jobs  (when we can make jobs available)

...for seniors. Elders are encouraged to share their gardening and business expertise by leading youth teams -- as volunteers or part-time employees (when we can make jobs available).
